$1.3 million in revenue in just over 800 days as a SOLO founder. Justin Welsh runs a handful of one-person businesses including a boutique consulting company, courses for creators, a private community for entrepreneurs, and a mentorship program.
Pretty interesting to see how he built all these businesses by himself.
His journey basically goes like this:
- Started creating content on LinkedIn around topics he found interesting
- Some content sucked, some of it stuck. He doubled down on what stuck.
- He had experience building SaaS (software as a service) sales teams, and that's the type of content that was doing well. This is where his first consulting customers came from.
- He found his niche.
- Next, he 2x his rates, cut his workload in half and started focusing on ways to create more automated income.
- Taking his consulting knowledge and common questions, he created a $50 info product and sold it on LinkedIn. Made over $10k in the first month.
- Read the rest here.
Again, the path here is similar to many others. Service business -> selling knowledge in a package to automate income.
Find your niche and you can do the same thing. Just don't expect it to happen overnight.
