THE RAVEN LADY: Book two in The Faery Rehistory

Hello, friend and reader. I hope that this newsletter finds you and your family safe and well. In the Seattle are, we are spending a lot of time in our homes right now, hoping to slow the spread of the virus. Kids are out of school, and my daughter and I are getting some quality time together, along with continuing our work—her with lessons at home, and me with the business of stories.

I wanted to take a moment to share some news about book two in The Faery Rehistory series, The Raven Lady, which is scheduled for release on October 13. I am thrilled to share the new cover with you—the Blackstone designer has really outdone himself!

I would love for you to run out and preorder, but as of this writing, only the Kobo version of the eBook is available for preorder. But if you'd like to receive notification when the Kindle version is up, you can follow me on Amazon. Print versions ARE currently available for preorder, and you can see the options on my website.

I arranged a blog tour for the cover reveal with some of my favorite bloggers. You can support them by checking out the posts! They're each offering something special...

Books, Bones & Buffy (an excerpt)

Book Pushers (giveaway of book 1, The Absinthe Earl)

Whiskey With My Book (guest post by yours truly)

Whispers & Wonder (giveaway of book 1, The Absinthe Earl)

Since many of us are social distancing and sheltering in place, I thought I'd also offer some book recs and other things as ideas for enjoying your time at home. Let me first refer you back to a guest author feature I ran in the fall, from the witchy and wonderful Gwen Mitchell, on self care. We can all use it right now.

Reading Recommendation

The Vine Witch

People kept recommending this book, and I loved the cover SO much. Also the story blends witchcraft with wine making in the South of France so just shut up and take my money. I especially loved the first half of the book, with all its witchy detail, harvesty vibes, and charming magic. And do I have a treat for you—the eBook is currently on sale for $1.99!

Reading Recommendation

KINDRED

I read a fabulous piece on Octavia Butler this morning that reminded me of how much I enjoyed Kindred

This book is SO gripping. It’s a unique time travel story with a compelling heroine. I highly recommend it. Note that this is mostly set in the antebellum South and there is some harrowing content.

I wrote a full Goodreads review of this book when I first read it.

Last night I read some wonderful words spoken by Neil Gaiman that I believed would be a balm to creators everywhere. (So I tweeted it, and to my utter delight, he retweeted me!) Here is the tweet, and you can click it to go to the article it cites...
