Best in show.

We have a winner! Pictured here is the Best In Show and Best Use Of The Fair Theme winning exhibit, Mission To Zero, by our own Bo Muhsam and Stella Allen. The exhibit embodies both creative reuse and the fair theme of "Pioneering the Future." Congratulations Bo and Stella!

We've just been having a blast down at the Fair these last few days thanks to the exhibitors who sent this division into orbit with their choice of materials, creativity, and craftsmanship. We're biased, but we think this entire division is single-handedly "pioneering the future." Stop by the Home Arts building to see for yourself.

And thanks to our judges—MadeFair Marketplace maven Courtney Blazon, MCPS Zero Waste Steering Committee member and Board Trustee Mike Smith, and former winner of Best in Show in this division Steve Weiler—who had the tough job of deciding which of these fair creations got the ribbons and rosettes this year.

More hands-on Fair fun! Bring the kiddos again to join Katie, our Energy Corps service member, on Sunday starting at 11 a.m. in the Commercial Building Make & Take booth for the Creative Reuse Make & Take Challenge!

2x4

Get them before they're gone!

We just got a fresh shipment of lumber from our pals at Montana Deconstruction Services that includes this bunk of 2x4. Buy it by the piece - $0.20/ft

Plywood and T1-11

Sheet your garage.

Also in the aforementioned shipment, this massive bunk of mixed plywood and T1-11. Take the whole bunk or buy it by the piece - $10 a sheet

1x

Tons and tons of 1x.

We have racks and racks full of assorted length and width 1x lumber. Build a desktop, skip-deck a shed roof, or trim out an unfinished project. 1x4 starts at $0.15/ft and goes up from there depending on width, condition, milling style and material

Pavers

Nice patio add on.

Use this pallet of old pavers to give your guests the impression that you just discovered your ancient backyard in a South American jungle - $20 takes the pallet

Marble Mantel

Make the heaviest item in your home jealous.

This mantel was ordered custom from a marble company in Portland, and then never installed, so eventually it came to us. If a vacation to Greece isn't in the cards for ya, this mantel just might help fill that void.  $1275

Commercial Doors

Install the door to your future, with a door from the past.

These heavy duty wood slab doors include a 6" steel jamb and good hardware. We've got about ten of them - $200 each

Industrial Cord Braider

Up your friendship bracelet game.

Guarantee yourself new friends with all the sweet bracelets you'll be handing out, start an Etsy shop, braid yourself a new wardrobe - the possibilities are endless. This things braids yarn, cord, and rope - $1400

Industrial Sewing Machine

There's no thimble explanation to this machine.

This industrial sewing machine doesn't seam to be a building material sew we don't actually know much about it. Figuring it out should keep you in stiches so don't be afrayed; once it's up and running you won't feel hemmed in by limitation. You won't need to treadle lightly. Don't let your pals needle you over this big purchase, because eventually, they'll be bobbin their heads to the rhythmic sounds of you patching rips in your old underwear - $1950

Fans, Lights, Stuff, Etc.

If you can find it, we've got it.

We have tens of thousands of different items in the store, so if you're looking for something, there is SUCH a great chance that we have it! Come swing by the store any time and wander around! We'll have good tunes on the stereo, helpful staff available, and a bunch of fun folks all over the place - free (the experience, not the items)
