Two Christmas cards fell out of our mailbox one July.
Chuckling, I read the first Christmas letter which began: “Oh, to be like Michelle Ule who can make even laundry sound exciting!”
My jaw dropped. I hadn’t seen Staci in years. What would her friends think of me?
Another friend explained. “You have a way of describing routine events that make them exciting.”*
How can that be?
I’m just like the rest of you. I have a family (large and half-Italian with waving hands**) and chores (routine, but often full of unexpected events***).
I grocery shop (I once spied a clown walking a lion past the parking lot+), and eat out (Hasn’t a waitress thrown a platter of food at you?++)
Well, maybe Staci had a point.
During a summer filled with unexpected events+++, I found myself in Connecticut 3 weeks ago.
I eulogized a dear friend, who changed my life.
We were so happy to fly across the United States to honor Liz.
But then a hurricane came.
