5-Year Progress Report

May of 2025 marked five years since the failures of Edenville and Sanford dams and the lowering of Secord and Smallwood lakes. We made unprecedented progress in the past five years with lake return in sight.

By this time next year, we plan to have three of the four lakes returned, and the fourth one will be a year away from refill. It’s an exciting time for the Four Lakes community as we see construction progress and dream about the return of our lakes.

We appreciate the support we’ve received from property owners, the community, government officials and our legislative representatives – especially during the delay in financing experienced in 2024.

There is still work to be done and we extend our appreciation to the hundreds of professionals, experts and volunteers working on this historic project.

A Community's Response to the 2020 Edenville Dam Failure

This report is the final update to the May 2021 Feasibility Study and Restoration Plan. It describes the experiences and lessons learned over the past five years to obtain all permits and become fully funded. Moving forward, reporting will focus on dam and lake restoration, lake refill, and environmental and recreational progress. A final report on implementation will be published when construction concludes on all four dams and the four lakes are filled.
