Hello, friend,
I just thought I'd take a moment to reintroduce myself and give you an update on me and my family. My husband, Bryan, and I have been serving in Lesotho, Southern Africa, for just over ten years. When I first became interested in being a full-time missionary back in 2008, I initially wanted to use my skills in massage and physical therapy as a ministry to children in Ukraine. Then, God shifted my destination toward Africa when He brought Bryan into my life. When we moved to Lesotho in 2013, I spent some time providing therapy for children in an orphanage here, as well as to friends and colleagues, until my ministry shifted to raising and homeschooling our own children.
In 2018, God put in on my heart to share the story of our time overseas and try to answer some of the questions I wish I had known to ask before moving overseas. Thus my book, Living Uprooted: Encouragement for the Missionary Wife, was born and published in February 2022. Since then, I've also published a companion workbook to go with it. Although we enjoy living and serving in Lesotho, a few years ago, God began stirring in our hearts and leading us to a new area of ministry. Once our daughter's immigration paperwork is approved, we are hoping to return to the US (hopefully in 2024) for Bryan to take a position as a flight instructor on loan to Mission Aviation Training Academy in Arlington, Washington, and we'll both continue mentoring new missionaries while I continue homeschooling our kids and perhaps reintegrate into the workforce doing massage therapy part-time.
As the header implies, there are many changes coming, and that means prioritizing projects. While I hope to continue working on my writing during this time, as it is a source of joy, over the next few months, I will be focusing on our kids' school, my own continuing education, and preparing our home for our transition. I will continue with this newsletter on a monthly basis.
Our family welcomes your thoughts and prayers through this journey.
