Paverpol celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Jan and Jossy de Roode started selling Paverpol in 1995, after Jossy had experimented with this unique textile hardener for a year. She could not have dreamed that this product is now used worldwide. "I knew that the product did not exist in this form, but I didn't expect it to get so out of hand," she laughs.
Paverpol's success started in the Netherlands. Jan and Jossy got almost half the country "Paverpolling". Jossy explains the success: “Paverpol is a very accessible product. Without a lot of effort or creative talent you can easily make something beautiful.” After the success in their own country, Jan and Jossy visited the largest hobby fair in Dallas (USA). The whole world was there and the product slowly spread in all directions. “We have visited over 35 countries in the past 25 years. Of course that was a learning process for us, because the tastes and preferences differ per country.”
Extensive range To maintain success, Jan and Jossy were strongly committed to introducing new products such as Pavercolors, Paverplast and Stockinette. “In the early years, we often introduced two new products every year. In this way the interest in Paverpol remained alive. This is now less necessary. Paverpol is an established name. It has a stable market position and everyone in the hobby industry knows this quality product.”
Worldwide creativity and friendships Looking back, Jan and Jossy are very proud of what Paverpol has brought them. In addition to an endless amount of creativity, these are countless friendships worldwide. “We cannot imagine a life without Paverpol. We are still working with it almost every day. The great thing is that I still get new ideas. That is really astonishing; Paverpol really offers endless possibilities.”
Future Jossy is confident that Paverpol has a bright future. She is happy with the new owners and the energy they put into the company. “During our workshops I meet people of all ages. Time and time again there is a new generation that likes to develop creatively. I trust that Paverpol will continue to play an important role in this. The product is simply fun and challenging enough for that.”
