State Track & Field Championships starting tomorrow!:

Good luck to the 1,500 athletes competing at State Track and Field Championships over the weekend. Athletes will be representing Centres from all over WA and travelling from as far away as Broome, Esperance and Kalgoorlie!

We also have a large number of volunteer officials and parents who will be giving up their time over the weekend.  Take the time to  thank them and #ShowRespect as the event couldn't happen without them!

Top tips:

Check Call Room times on the final program and be on time for marshaling for your events.

Allow plenty of time for parking as it will be a busy weekend - note there will also be events at adjoining sporting facilities!

All questions,  feedback and protests must go through your Centre Team Manager / Championships Officer.

Vist the LAWA website for everything you need to know

Information regarding Corona Virus:

Athletics in WA would like to ensure the health, safety and hygiene of all our members and their families. Please click the link below for more information in relation to COVID-19.

At this stage all events are ‘business as usual’ in our preparation, but we will keep you informed if new information comes to hand.

We ask all member families, coaches, officials and volunteers to follow the guidelines below in order to keep our athletics community as healthy as possible over the coming weeks and months.

We ask that you don’t attend athletics training or compeitition if you:

  • have been in any of the declared zones in the past two weeks (currently Mainland China, Korea, Mongolia, Italy and Iran) – for latest advice, check HERE;
  • have been in contact with anyone who has been travelling in those zones, or concerned you have been in contact with anyone who has Corona virus, or;
  • you have the slightest sniffle, cold or other flu-like symptoms.

Please take all precautions as much as possible to avoid the spreading of this virus and seek medical advice if you are concerned about your health and well-being.

In addition, we ask everyone to practice high levels of hygiene health (washing hands, sanitise etc) which are widely considered by health experts to be key to disease prevention and management.

We also ask that we avoid physical contact (shaking hands etc).

Keeping our community healthy over the next few months is paramount. Thank you to everyone in advance, we will continue to monitor the situation and keep all members updated on any new developments.

While most people are looking forward to a great weekend, sometimes people forget to ENJOY THE SPORT! In sport, as in life, there will always be issues or disappointments. It's how you handle them that matters:

I will - Act within the rules and spirit of the game, promote fair play over winning at all costs, encourage and support others, respect officials' and coaches' decisions, thank athletes, coaches and officials.

I won't - use bad language or harass or abuse anyone, criticise or ridicule anyone's performance, lose control of my emotions, be dishonest or show unsporting behaviour, be disrespectful.

Bring your best to the event and enjoy the challenge - win, lose or draw!
