The Prestonwood choir sings, “There is power in the name of Jesus.” The lyrics go on to say…”A nation needing healing, fighting for her life. A church that needs revival, a broken man and wife. But in the name in Jesus, the chains of bondage fall, Prayers are heard and answered, when God’s children call.” This year our church theme for 2025 focuses on A Year of Healing!
The Bible is full of stories of healing and throughout this month, we will reflect upon several of them… This morning we meet the royal official and his son…
In John 4:47-53 (ESV) we learn, “When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.
So Jesus said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.” The official said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way.
As he was going down, his servants met him and told him that his son was recovering. So he asked them the hour when he began to get better, and they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” The father knew that was the hour when Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” And he himself believed, and all his household.”
To God Be The Glory… Jesus has the power to heal! Jesus healed this man’s son even without being in the boy’s presence. The man believed Jesus would heal his son at his word. We can believe, without a doubt, that he will heal when we ask him. Sometimes that healing comes here on earth. But regardless, while we may not always understand, let us strive to trust God’s heart. Let us encourage each other to trust God for healing, no matter what and furthermore to trust His ultimate will.

INTERIM PASTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE UPDATE |
|
|
|
|
The Interim Pastor Search Committee has re-opened the position following the Church's direction, with the official posting initiated on January 6, 2025. The posting will remain open for 14 days, and the deadline for application submissions is January 20, 2025.
To expedite the process as directed by the Church, the advertisement was limited to a local audience rather than nationwide, as done previously. This adjustment aims to facilitate timely recommendations to the Church, as discussed during our Annual Church Meeting.
The Committee will provide a comprehensive report after reviewing the applications and present its recommendations at a future official Church Meeting. Please continue to pray for us as we seek to align with God’s will throughout this process.

FLU
Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.
Flu shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a flu vaccination.
RSV
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common, contagious virus that usually causes mild symptoms. In older adults and adults with certain underlying conditions, RSV can cause severe infections.
RSV shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a RSV vaccination.
COVID-19
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the disease and how the virus spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by staying at least 1 metre apart from others, wearing a properly fitted mask, and washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently. Get vaccinated when it’s your turn and follow local guidance.
The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. It is important to practice respiratory etiquette, for example by coughing into a flexed elbow, and to stay home and self-isolate until you recover if you feel unwell.
Both COVID vaccines and Booster COVID vaccines are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding COVID vaccinations.
