"Fernweh." That was another wonderful word, wasn't it? Our masthead photographer last week uses it as a pseudonym/pen name - although I guess that's a thought to explore also. A "pen name" doesn't exactly work for a photographer. Perhaps a "lens name?"
Anyway ... Fernweh comes from the German and loosely translates as "wanderlust" but the BBC provided a more in-depth look at the almost painful desire to expand one's horizons (which became even more pronounced for many during the COVID pandemic).
Do you know the feeling?
Congratulations go out to April, our randomly selected trivia winner for September. Yes, another month has passed and the fernweh only grows stronger!
To welcome October with a nod to Monday's celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day, you'll find one of the parks featuring in our messages this week is named for a nomadic tribe. Who are these indigenous people?
Enter each week to increase your chances of a fabulous prize at the end of the month when I'll draw one entry from all correct answers received during the month.
