After a more than two-year hiatus, the Second Story Gallery re-opened with an artist reception during First Friday in July.
Stepping Out is a showcase of artwork by Hayes Freedom and Camas High School students featuring ceramics, pencil drawings, and other two-dimensional works.
Teachers Miranda Wakeman (Hayes Freedom), Ann Scott (Camas), and Heidi Keith (Camas) helped coordinate the submissions and installation.
The Library and artists alike welcomed 173 visitors to the reception, which was particularly encouraging for a holiday weekend. This exhibit runs through the end of August; additional shows on deck include:
- September: Tiny Art (patron art show)
- October: Silesian Stories: Sister City Art, Artifacts, and Stories from Lloyd & Ulrike Halverson
- November-December: Artisans' Guild of Camas
During the second month of a two-month exhibit, there will not be an artist reception on First Friday. However, the Library will host a First Friday activity; usually, one that coordinates with the evening's theme. For example, this Friday, August 5th, the Library will host a flamingo craft.
