Newcastle & Hunter Valley Folk Club - 7.30pm
Another in a series of Lock Down Break Out (Zoom) concerts featuring local performers:
- Clark Gormley - a nerd who writes & sings songs.
- Carole Garland - whose background is in the traditional songs & tunes of the Borders. She has won many traditional song/ballad competitions with her fine voice & in-depth knowledge.
- Derek Dowding - a songwriter with a gift for shining a truthful light on the absurd aspects of society, usually comical & always thoroughly entertaining.
- Gabrielle Newland - a vocalist & mountain dulcimer player heavily influenced by Joni Mitchell. Currently studying a Masters of Music Therapy & sings with award-winning Newcastle Chamber Choir.
- The Thomsons (Scott & Jenny) deliver deeply personal story telling with the lyric at the heart of the song. Original songs from their new album, & some old favourites from their previous releases.
Tonight's concert, & following Tuesday night concerts (28 September and 5 & 12 October) will be on our Facebook page, at 7.30pm, for about 1.5 hours. Please book tonight's via Trybooking. For each event, a fee of $5 is being requested to cover the costs involved.
See also times & booking details on website. As a performer, these performances take place from your own home so to participate, you will need to have access to a mobile phone, PC or laptop which has a camera & microphone ability. You will also need to download 'Zoom' if you don't already have it. A training session & sound check will be done a few days beforehand & again just prior to the event, to ensure there are no hiccups on the night. (For those Luddites among you, it is actually a lot easier than it sounds as Matthew Clarke & his son David have got this down to a pretty fine art now.)
