Election Day
by Janet Singer, CGB Political Director
Thank you to all in our Crimson Goes Blue community who volunteered, gave money, worked to make our elections free and fair, talked to voters. We stood up for our democracy, and that matters, win or lose.
I hope most of you voted early and that you will find one thing to do today to get another vote. Text your kids and make sure they text their friends. Join a ballot-cure effort (the process by which a voter is given a chance to fix or “cure” problems on their ballot, before their ballot is discarded–more on that below) and then don’t turn on the tv or radio until tomorrow.
A lot of races will be very close and we likely won't know the final results today. Just like 2020, it will look particularly Red in the initial election returns, which are disproportionately from in-person voters. The results will get Bluer as mail-in/absentee/early votes are added to the tally. Remember when it looked like Trump was winning in 2020? And how it took many days before Pennsylvania was called? And be prepared for the MAGA forces to lie about the results and lash out to try to overthrow the will of the people. Our Election Integrity team will continue working to make sure every vote is counted.
Do something fun tonight. We will have a preliminary midterm debrief and community conversation this Sunday. (Details below). And we’re getting ready to pivot to Georgia because there’s a high likelihood that the Senate race will go to a runoff on December 6th. (See details below for a meeting tomorrow to discuss plans).
I am thankful for all the friends I’ve gained through Crimson Goes Blue and for sharing the experience of caring for our democracy together.
