Vive la différence and DiveRSE
Vive la différence - research software engineers is a Lorentz Center workshop (in Leiden, Netherlands and virtual) to consider how research software engineering could be reframed to place diversity, equity, and inclusion as a central organizing principle in research software.
ReSA is delighted to announce support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, and the Ford Foundation for the workshop, augmenting support funding for Lorentz Center workshops from Leiden University and several Dutch national funding agencies (Dutch Research Council (NWO) divisions). We are very grateful for this support of this important conversation. The workshop is limited to 55 participants, but there are a couple of spots left; contact ReSA if interested.

Research software community mapping |
|
ReSA has been updating its previous mapping of the research software community with assistance from contractors in Africa, Asia and Latin America. A wide range of research software organisations and programs exist internationally to address the varied challenges in software productivity, quality, reproducibility, and sustainability. ReSA’s mission is to bring these research software communities together to collaborate on the advancement of the research software ecosystem.
The first output of this work is a list of research software funders in a range of geographic regions. Please add information on other funders that you’re aware of, so we can work together to continue to build understanding of the research software funding landscape. Thanks to Wellcome Trust for supporting this initiatives, and the contributors: Batool Almarzouq, Jyoti Bhogal, Abdullah Shams Bin Tariq, Renato Augusto Corrêa dos Santos, Stephannie Jimenez Gacha, Caleb Kibet, Narcisse Mbunzama, Anthony Oko-Isu, Arslan Sheikh, Saranjeet Kaur Bhogal, Jessica Upani, and Nicolás Wolovick.

Research Software Funders Forum |
|
The Research Software Funders Forum – a collaboration of funding organisations committed to supporting research software, and those who develop it, as fundamental and vital to research – meets monthly to share practices and consider how to address common challenges. The Research Software Funders Forum is convened by ReSA and supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. 30 funding organisations are currently participating in the Funders Forum. Funders Forum members include governmental, philanthropic, and industry organisations from around the world. Currently, participants represent organisations from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, United Kingdom, and USA.
Funders Forum members share updates on sector news, provide overviews of funding strategies, and discuss topics of interest. Thanks to Funders Forum members’ informative, collaborative, and engaging discussion, the Funders Forum is now organising working groups to further explore and achieve shared goals. Many thanks to the research software funding community for its participation and support of the forum. For further information, please refer to the Terms of Reference or contact ReSA.
