Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced a Tribal consultation to gather feedback and recommendations on its draft HHS Tribal and Tribal Epidemiology Center (TEC) Data Access (TTDA) Policy. The policy intends to outline the types of data to be made available to Tribal Nations and TECs acting in their capacities as public health authorities. It also intends to "establish HHS-wide expectations for Divisions responding to Tribal and TEC data requests covered by the policy, including through the development of Division-specific implementation protocols. USET SPF provided comments to HHS in 2022 during the first round of consultation on the development of a Tribal data sharing policy.
HHS will hold Tribal consultation on this topic on February 6, 2024 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm ET. Interested participants may register for the consultation here. HHS also provided some specific questions for feedback, which can be found in the Dear Tribal Leader Letter. HHS will accept written comments on this topic until March 5, 2024 at consultation@hhs.gov.
