This book was a challenge to review as it differed greatly from my expectations. Rather than the suspense genre portrayed on the cover, it leans more towards literary fiction.
While I personally disagreed with some of the liberal viewpoints presented in the story, I did find it enjoyable overall. It is not suitable for Christians seeking characters who live by their faith, but the narrative does have a meaningful message about forgiveness, both for others and oneself.
I appreciate the author's stance that abuse should never be trivialized or treated as a competition for who suffered the most. However, I felt that the story lacked the emotional depth I was hoping for. It kept me engaged, but it did not evoke any tears. Nevertheless, it was a thought-provoking read.
