I'm back on track after last month's production hiatus.
I’ve always found writing the last third of my stories the most challenging part. But you already know that if you’ve been hanging out here regularly. This time in particular, it’s been a slow and sometimes frustrating endeavor fraught with indecision, doubt, and the occasional case of acute writer's block.
A fellow writer blames "the final-third doldrums" on the fear of saying goodbye to her characters and the worlds they inhabit. She says her procrastination means she can spend more time immersed in those worlds and exploring her characters on a deeper emotional level. Granted, she’s an incredibly prolific writer who can produce an entire three-book series in six months, so I can understand why she would want to stick around a little longer.
For me, the opposite is true. Some of these characters have been living in my head for almost a decade now, and it’s time to bid them farewell. This extends beyond my own need for resolution. I desperately want to provide you, the reader, with the closure you deserve after taking this creative journey with me.
Fortunately, after all the fits and starts, I’ve FINALLY settled on a clear path toward the conclusion of this twisty-turny time travel series, and there’s no stopping me now!
