New Thriller Under Construction
I'm pleased to let you all know that my next thriller is underway. The new book will be another stand alone thriller. My first Life Untenable was published in June last year. So Helix will be taking a well earned rest for now. My plan is for a third installment in the series in 2022.
Being a relative newcomer to the art, I like to challenge myself with my writing. The new book is a blend of contemporary and historical (1938 and the years that follow). It's also written in the first person and mainly through the eyes of the main character Mo (Morgan) Archer.
As I write, I'm about 30k words in (averaging about 1400 words per day) with the first draft and it's going well. I like to let my characters drive the novel forward and already they are throwing up some interesting possibilities. One minor character is taking shape and looking like he's going to have a more significant role to play. I have another who's perhaps not shaping up as well as I thought. Will they survive the edit? Watch this space.
I am grateful to have as much time as I like to commit to my writing, but that said, I can't spend all day everyday working on it. I get tired and bored and neither of those make for good writing or reading. If I push myself, I often end up deleting most of what I have written after I should have stopped. Some days it doesn't flow, so I don't beat myself up. I got for a walk, read, research or go for a ride on my bike (Triumph Bonneville T100).
So, that's it for now. I'll be reverting to my occasional email frequency when I have something new to report or have something you might find interesting.
As usual, hit the reply button if you have any questions or just fancy a chat.
Until next time, cheers.
