As we continue our celebration of Springtime and growth in our faith, it’s Mother’s Day! Spring flowers are beautiful signs of life following a super cold winter. Poignant reminders of how God makes all things new. The concept of a "mother's love" and "new life" connects deeply with Spring.
As we celebrate Mother’s Day, we reflect on the profound impact that mothers have on our lives, both in our immediate families and the broader spiritual community. The Bible is filled with stories and teachings about motherhood, and offers timeless wisdom on the virtues of motherhood and the important role moms play in nurturing faith and fostering wisdom.
Throughout the Scriptures, mothers are depicted as symbols of love, strength, and unwavering guidance. One of the most striking examples is found in Proverbs 31, which portrays a woman of noble character, a woman worth far more than rubies. Her children rise and call her blessed; her husband also praises her. Proverbs 31:30 reads, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
This passage is a powerful testament to the esteem and respect that godly mothers command in their families. The deep reverence for the mother of Proverbs 31 comes from her steadfast commitment to biblical principles. This dedication shaped her character and profoundly influenced her family's spiritual and moral compass. Her example sets a standard of virtue and integrity that continues to guide and enrich the lives of her loved ones.
A mother's influence on her children's spiritual upbringing cannot be underestimated. In 2 Timothy 1:5, Paul recalls the divine origin of Timothy's sincere faith. It reads, “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.” This passage highlights how faith is passed from generation to generation, often through the teachings and examples set by mothers.
The story of Hannah, who dedicated her son Samuel to the Lord, serves as a testament to the profound spiritual impact a mother's vow can make, not only on her child's life but also on the fate of an entire nation. Hannah’s story is a beautiful narrative of sacrifice, prayer, and dedication. Her story reveals the deep yearnings of a woman who longs to nurture a family of her own. Confronted with the pain of barrenness, Hannah turns to God with her sorrow. In her earnest plea, she not only seeks to bear a child but also commits to an extraordinary vow. 1 Samuel 1:11 reads, “And she made a vow, saying, “Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.”
God responds to Hannah with compassion, granting her heartfelt request. True to her word, Hannah fulfills her vow, raising Samuel with the knowledge of God. 1 Samuel 1:22 reads, “Hannah did not go. She said to her husband, “After the boy is weaned, I will take him and present him before the Lord, and he will live there always.””
Samuel grows to become one of the great Old Testament spiritual leaders. Undoubtedly, his life is a testament to the power of faith and the impact of a godly upbringing.
To God Be The Glory for the unshakable, resolute faith of mothers! The commandment in Exodus 20:12 to “honor your father and your mother,” is a cornerstone of biblical teaching, underlining the importance of respecting our parents. On Mother’s Day, this commandment takes on a special significance as we celebrate and honor moms. Happy Mother’s Day!

For May, the Youth Ministry will continue our Life Skills Sessions, #4) Communication - Have An Interview and #2) Time / Self-Management - Preparing For Finals. We will be joined by Sis. LeAndrea Hayden & Sis. Sabrynn Wright for this Wednesday's session and we are excited to have them share their time and talents with us!
We will continue our study of Joseph, another great character of the Bible. The Youth have been quite intrigued by this Bible character's innate ability to interpret dreams through the Holy Spirit. We are doing an extensive study of what these dreams meant and their importance.
The Youth Ministry meets every Wednesday at the Church at 7pm (1st & 3rd for Life Skills Sessions and 2nd & 4th for Bible Study.) We invite ALL middle and high schoolers to join us and to bring a friend as we find engaging ways to study God's Word and learn these important skills. All reminders and events will be posted in our GroupMe messaging app.

SPICED APPLE RINGS
Ingredients
3 medium apples
¼ cup butter
¼ cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon cinnamon
⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
⅛ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
Core apples and slice in ½" crosswise slices. Melt butter in a skillet; stir in brown sugar, spices and salt. Sauté apple rings in mixture over low heat, turning occasionally, until apples are tender. This is a good brunch dish.
Makes approximately 12 apple rings.

Current Focus in Life: My current focus in life is to do all that God has predestined me to do before I leave this world.
Career: My career is in various aspects: I currently am a Pharmacy Technician, while having yet to complete a few degrees, in Politics, Law, and presently looking to go back to seminary and complete my Doctorate in Theology. I have a Masters in Theology where I was blessed to graduate summa cum laude; that was many years ago, but I know it is my duty to study and complete more training. I have a few children's books; I am working on a motivational book, as well as books on Holistic healing. I plan to study with Dr. Yahki in St. Louis at his clinic. I am a veteran. I was in the Army and my last duty assignment was a Senior Drill Sergeant at Ft. Sill, OK.
Why this career: There are many streams in life, and often times your career move expands as does your level of gifts. I truly believe we all have more than one gift in life and there are many paths that lead to fulfilling your calling.
What do you want your Church Family to know about you? I want my family to know that I am a firm believer in the Most High!! I have seen so many miracles in my life. I have seen the Lord heal my mother, sister, brother and my daughter, all through the power of prayer. There is power in prayer. And yes, each day HE keeps making a way for me.
Pastor Sam Peoples often sings, these lovely words, "don't give up on God and HE won't give up on you." As I go through, I can hear his voice singing that song, and suddenly, I can feel the strength to carry on a little further, step by step. God puts people in your life that are messengers to HIS WORD.
Is there anything special your Church can do for you? Keep me lifted up in prayer, because prayer changes things.

FLU
Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.
Flu shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a flu vaccination.
RSV
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common, contagious virus that usually causes mild symptoms. In older adults and adults with certain underlying conditions, RSV can cause severe infections.

COVID-19
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the disease and how the virus spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by staying at least 1 metre apart from others, wearing a properly fitted mask, and washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently. Get vaccinated when it’s your turn and follow local guidance.
The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. It is important to practice respiratory etiquette, for example by coughing into a flexed elbow, and to stay home and self-isolate until you recover if you feel unwell.

1776 TO 2026!?!
As
VIEWED VIA JUDEO CHRISTIAN ETHICS AND THE E PLURIBUS UNIUM
PERSPECTIVE…HOPE /FAITH SPRINGS ETERNAL
One
Christian Historian based most of his research around the statement,
“Evidence that demands a verdict.” This is a useful perspective
in leading us in our understanding of history.
The
first three letters of Genesis chapter 1, says, “In the beginning
God!” One must stop with those 3 words to consider the great depth
of what God conveyed to His creation, Moses, and all later humans.
Theologically God is communicating to us that He is self existent.
Therefore, SELF EXISTENT God is IN
(God
the center of one's being, as per Acts 17:28, “For
IN/GOD
we live, and move and, and have our being;” and…HE/GOD
is the ETERNAL
DEFINITE ARTICLE. THE/GOD,
HE WHO IS SELF
EXISTENT BEGINNING/GOD of
mankind’s existence.
In
commissioning Moses to write the first three words of Genesis, God
laid the (literally, not proverbially) the groundwork for history. He
provided the first evidence for mankind to later discern, and the
first fact that leads to the statement, “In order to know where
you’re going, you must first know from whence you’ve come.”
God never leaves us in a quandary as to where and who we have come.
Hence COMMON-SENSE should lead devout Christians in looking for
“evidence that demands a verdict.”
The
strongest evidence in the Declaration of Independence that supports
the merger of Christian equality with politics and government is
expressed in the second paragraph. It
is the most famous, and “proves the philosophical foundation of
American democracy. It proclaims the religious and "self-evident"
truths that all people are created equal and endowed with unalienable
rights, including "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
The
second merger of Judeo-Christian political persuasion is written in
the Preamble of the U.S. Constitution. The Preamble says:
“We
the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect
Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility,
provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare,
and secure the Blessings
of Liberty to
ourselves and our Posterity,
do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of
America.”
Both
historic documents reveal “evidence that demands a verdict” that
parallels that which is written in Micah 6:8, and echoed in
Genesis
18:19, and I Samuel 15:22.
Micah
says:
“He
hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require
of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with
thy God?” These didactic/instructive verses simply mean, “Do the
right thing!”
Genesis
says:
“For
I know him, that he will command his children and his household after
him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and
judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which
he hath spoken of him.
1Samuel
(NLT version) says:
“What
is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and
sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is
better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat
of rams.
(These
didactic/instructive verses simply mean, “Do the right thing!”
Hope/faith
springs eternal!)
Several
researchers have shown that, “While many of the US Founding Fathers
were influenced by Christianity, several delegates to the
Constitutional Convention (1787) stood out for their deeply held,
orthodox, or active Christian faith.”
These
researchers produced a list of the most devout Christian Founding
Fathers who were signers or key framers of the U.S. Constitution,
along with other notable founders often considered among the most
religious.
“Devout
Framers and Signers of the Constitution:
- John
Jay: Although
not a delegate, Jay was a key framer (Federalist Papers) and first
Chief Justice. He was a devout Episcopalian who served as president
of the American Bible Society and described by historians
as a "Christian enthusiast".
- Benjamin
Rush: A
signer of the Declaration of Independence and a Pennsylvania
delegate to the ratification convention. He was a deeply devout
Christian who argued for biblical education in public schools and
was a founder of the Bible Society.
- Roger
Sherman: A
Connecticut delegate, he was the only person to sign all four state
papers: the Continental Association, the Declaration of
Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution.
He was a devout Congregationalist and widely respected for his
Christian piety.
- James
McHenry: A
Maryland delegate and signer. He was an outspoken Christian who was
active in forming Bible societies.
- Charles
Cotesworth Pinckney: A
delegate from South Carolina and signer. He often expressed his
reliance on God's providence and was a devout member of the
Episcopal Church.
- Richard
Bassett: A
delegate from Delaware and signer who was a fervent Christian,
originally Episcopalian and later a prominent Methodist.
- Gunning
Bedford Jr.: A

COMMON
SENSE REVISITED ASKS THE QUESTION:
With
this many practicing believers in Christ, at that time, working to
create a lasting democracy based on social equality, how could they
in good Christian conscience ever consider tolerating both Manifest
Destiny, which was the spreading of their superior way of life by
“all means necessary” on any group of people in their way, most
especially Native Americans, and by Native American genocide to
displace them in their own native land.
Most
especially how could staunch “God fearing” “Good Home training”
Christian folks ever tolerate the dehumanizing “Peculiar
Institution of black slavery?
Alexander
Pope authored a philosophical poem in 1732-1733 entitled “Epistle I
of An Essay on Man. In that poem Pope wrote:
“Hope
springs eternal in the human Breast:
Man
never is, but always to be blest.”
In
this poem Pope advocates that “hope is a natural, constant, and
divinely given quality within humanity, allowing people to look
forward, even when they are not currently satisfied or “blest.”
In other words, hope for the best despite tremendous odds against
you.
Pope’s
sentiments are a somewhat a fore runner of a 1947-1951 statement
urging resistance of death, by Dylan Thomas which he urged his dying
father to do, “Do not go gentle into that good night…Rage, rage
against the dying of the light and do not go gentle into that good
night.” In other words, do not give up hope, for a Christian do
not give up your faith…let it spring until, as said at the
conclusion of Jeremiah 29:11…until a believer’s “expected end!”
