Travel Safe & Celebrate Heroes' Day

On the 26th of August Namibia celebrates Heroes' Day. This day we celebrate to commemorates the Namibian War of Independence which began n the 26 August 1966 at Omugulugwombashe. With the celebration on Sunday, Namibia will have a long weekend.

Celebrate Heroes' Day and stay safe

This long weekend invites many to travel and have a short holiday. Unfortunately the road accidents statistic with nearly 300 fatal injuries so far is a sad statistic. Please don't become part of the statistic and travel safe.

Therefore here are some tips for a safe journey:

Prepare your car - check the following and adjust if needed:

  • Coolant
  • Oil
  • Tire Pressure
  • Spare Tire
  • Brakes
  • Belts, caps, hoses and filters
  • Lights, signals, all wiper blades and windshield wiper fluid

Prepare yourself - make sure to wear comfortable clothes and pack the necessities:

  • First aid kit
  • Water and snacks
  • Blankets and pillows
  • Jumper cables and flares
  • Travel brochures and maps
  • Tool kit and cutting tool
  • CDs or books
