Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
With infrastructure talks still somewhat fluid in the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives preparing to put its own stamp on any resulting packages, now is the time to contact your Members of Congress to ensure Tribal priorities are included in these efforts. As a reminder, Congressional leadership is planning action on infrastructure via two separate packages -- a bipartisan package focused on physical infrastructure and a reconciliation package (to be drafted and passed by Democrats) focused on "social" infrastructure, such as tax cuts for families and education funding.
USET SPF is encouraging member to Tribal Nations to reach out your delegations to remind them of your respective infrastructure priorities, as well as the need to ensure Indian Country is broadly and meaningfully included in both. Earlier this week, USET SPF refreshed and reemphasized a joint letter signed by 30 Tribal organizations earlier this year with Congressional leadership and partners. The letter outlines the collective priorities of Tribal Nations across the country. We encourage you to utilize this letter in your outreach efforts, as well.
For Congressional contact information, you can visit the webpages of the Senate or House, or call 202-224-3121 to be directly connected with a particular office.
USET SPF will continue to monitor ongoing infrastructure negotiations, and will provide further information as it develops.
For more information, please contact Liz Malerba, USET SPF Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs, at lmalerba@usetinc.org.
