Tips to plan a week of fun around your child's interests! View in browser
Follow your children's lead and plan a week of fun just for them!

Following the schedule I've used for the past four days, let me show you how to easily plug in your child's interests to create your own unique week of family fun.

Pick a topic

  • Think big so you have lots of ideas to pull from. Use a graphic organizer to help. Break the large topic into four daily topics with Friday being a celebration rather than a day to introduce new material.
  • Plan a couple activities per time slot; if you get to them all great! If not, don't worry

    Morning

    • I tried to introduce a daily theme each morning through read alouds or videos, and ideally an outdoor activity. Get the kids outside and running around before it gets too hot!

    Afternoon

    • I scheduled afternoons for crafts and experiments or hands on activities, typically done around the table.. Longer audio books, related cartoons, movies, or silent reading books are great in the afternoon when it's hot and mom needs a break!

    Evening

    • Use the evening to bring everyone together over a special dinner meal or dessert. Look for activities that everyone can participate in before or after diner, and a chance to gather around together before bed and share their favorite parts of the week.
