I hope this little email will uplift and encourage you to see the good things all around you.

    Thought for the day

How about a little exercise? What if, for one day, you wrote down in detail what you do - make an inventory.

But not just a list of actions - write down your thoughts and emotions regarding the things you do. What do you talk about? And how do you talk? Are you trying to find solutions or are you stuck in negativity? How do you respond to a positive person? How about to negative people?

If you think you can, you are right. If you think you can't, you are right. Your success or the lack of it has one thing in common: your attitude. Your attitude is reflected in your words and actions. Your words and actions are like seeds you plant - observe what you have in life and how it makes you feel. Your feelings about your present life is a good clue how you have been acting and thinking in the past. What had grown from the seeds you planted?

You don't need to make radical changes in your life to succeed. Making radical changes can sometimes be a good thing, but often you notice how old problems, or new but eerily familiar problems, pop up in your new life. And this is because you have brought yourself into your new life. If you haven't changed yourself, you'll meet the old conditions until you change.

So start paying attention to your emotions, words and deeds. Decide to work on the ones you are not happy with. One thing at a time is a good start on your new path towards a life you consider a success. (The stress being on the word you.)

Happiness Journal / Locks and Keys

We went to a drift store and I saw all these old locks and keys hanging on the wall. I had no idea people would buy such things (but apparently they did, because the next time we went to the same store, all the locks were gone). Some of these locks look really old and they piqued my imagination. What kind of doors had they locked? What were their stories? Also the dark colours, rust and the wall colour looked nice together, so I took the photo.

    First year of studies done!

I put all my notes from the first year of my MA in Egyptology into an archive box. I could barely close the lid. And on top of this all the saved pdf's and written work I have done with my computer. Closing that box sure made me feel happy :) Time for a summer break!

What made you happy today? Send a note and tell, if you wish to share your little happy moment with others.
