Hi, !
Here is why there is a reading task in PowerUp60.
If we are not constantly improving each day. We are degrading.
This is something I have experienced personally.
The days I don't consciously invest in myself are the days I feel demotivated and stagnant. And I have had many of these days in both the near and distant past.
Reading is something crucial to keep improving as a human being.
If you have been following me long enough on social media. You'd know that my drive towards physical training comes from a place of self-improvement.
I couldn't care less about looking like a movie star. Or competing in bodybuilding. Or winning strength events.
Working on my body is an investment in myself. Just like reading.
It helps me level-up.
The world is nothing but a video game. Everything is within our limits. Provided we build the skills necessary to achieve them.
If you want to experience unshakable confidence. You need 2 things:
- A mindset built of steel
- A body that creates impact
To build the mindset you need 👉 books, mentors, challenges.
To build the body you need 👉 exercise, nutrition, sleep.
With only the mindset, your confidence will falter when the world outside doesn't reflect back your self image.
With only the body you will be the meathead with self image issues.
So invest both in your body and in your mindset.
That is why you must read everyday.
And not all books are created equal. Some books are equivalent of fast food. Easy to consume and highly palatable.
But nutritionally deficient. This is what most people read.
It's a waste of time.
Read high quality non-fiction to grow. Good fiction is also great but it should be a secondary source.
(Note: If you are doing PowerUp60, fiction and audiobooks don't count as reading.)
Currently I'm reading 'The Laws of Human Nature' by Robert Greene.
What are you reading? I'd love to know.
Send me a reply.
