Tenants at our courts have been keeping busy! From crafting, domino tournaments, quizzes, karoke, Halloween parties, a bake-off competition and a Boccia league, there’s never been a dull moment. Calum MacDonald Court even had a therapony turn up for a visit…

Our Welfare Benefits team do amazing work for our tenants every day.

Last month they helped 33 tenants gain over £98,000 in additional income, which will make a considerable difference to their lives.

By law, we have to carry out electrical checks every five years in your home.

We will test wiring, switches and sockets to make sure they are safe. We will fix any faults that we find. We will also test smoke and fire detectors and replace if necessary.

To help us complete inspections in time, we have updated our Electrical Safety Policy and Procedure which means we will give reasonable notice of when your electrical check is due and work with you to arrange a suitable appointment.

We will follow our standard procedure to have this work completed. If we are unable to get access to your home after multiple attempts, our procedure allows us to gain entry to complete the inspection.

Please be assured that forced entry is only used when absolutely necessary, and only after all reasonable steps have been taken to arrange access voluntarily.

We know that managing your energy bills can be worrying and, at times, confusing. The service aims to help you stay affordably warm at home and includes:

• Access to their online advice library
• Regular emails or letters over the coming months around energy advice
• Access to telephone advice for more in-depth support
• Tailored one-to-one support if you have more complicated problems such as energy billing issues or debt

So far this year, they have helped 85 tenants gain over £6,600 in energy savings!

Our tenants at Wimberley Court in Broughty Ferry have been hard at work fundraising over the last couple of months.

Andy Craigie, who was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, walked one mile every day for an entire month. With the help of his fellow tenants, he managed to raise £3,268 for Maggie’s Centre in Dundee – an incredible achievement!

The final day of Andy’s challenge coincided with a Macmillan Coffee morning, which raised an amazing £943.

A huge well done to the tenants and their family and friends!
