Medical Reimbursement - Update 1 (Replies)

QUESTION

Hi Fellow HR Practitioners,

I understand employer supposed to pay medical consultation expenses incurred by the employee at any government healthcare institutions? May I check what is your understanding of medical consultation fees, does it mean reimburse the full amount as per the medical bill?

Thanks.

Carol

I have checked this before that the responsibility of employers are only limited to consultation fee which can represent medication cost now included. The medical coverage can be capped at a certain amount but consultation fee must be covered.

It depends if the medical bills are for work related injuries or for occupational disease. If so, employer must pay according to the Work Injury Compensation Act. If not, it depends on the company's welfare benefit.

No, it only covers the consultation and the medications prescribed are excluded.
