Armenia-Diaspora Business Forum takes place in Yerevan

197 participants, 110 of which Diaspora-Armenian businessmen from 25 countries, were registered to attend Armenian Trade Network’s 4th Armenia-Diaspora Business Forum. The Forum was held with the support of the Office of High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs. According to Deputy PM Tigran Avinyan Armenians have been a global commercial nation during history by creating networks from Singapore to Venice, Cairo to Amsterdam, and following the same logic this event gathered successful businessmen from different parts of the world enabling to build new bridges between the business communities of Armenia and the Diaspora. Chairman of the ATN Board Hrach Gaspar noted that the Armenian Trade Network can present an invaluable value both in the communities of Armenia and the Diaspora.

Deputy PM Avinyan participates in ATN’s business forum

Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Avinyan participated on October 10 in the 4th business forum of the Armenian Trade Network. In his speech he appreciated the event as an opportunity to build new bridges between the business communities of Armenia and Diaspora, stressing that Armenians had been a global commercial nation during history. “At the moment deep reforms are underway aimed at improving the business climate, creating the best conditions for the local and foreign investors", he said (see also).

Minister: Armenian Virtual Bridge to help Armenia become regional technology hub

Minister of High-Technological Industry of Armenia, Hakob Arshakyan, attended the “Outline of Armenia-Diaspora Sustainable Economic Partnership” 4th Business Forum of the Armenian Trade Network, and delivered a report, entitled “New Armenia, New Opportunities.” He touched upon the opportunities which the incumbent Armenian government enables for the development of the high-tech sector in the context of the new reality of Armenia, the programs aimed at the development of this sector, and the respective steps being taken.

High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan in his remarks highlighted the activity of the Armenian Trade Network which has turned into a platform for exchange of experience between the Armenian businessmen, implementing new projects and initiatives in the Homeland. “I am convinced that we have a huge pan-national potential, and it will enable to gradually change and raise to a new level the Armenia-Diaspora partnership, in particular in the business sector”, Mr. Sinanyan said.

Deputy Ministers of Economy deliver speeches at ATN Business Forum

Deputy Minister of Economy Varos Simonyan presented the economic policy implemented by the Government of Armenia, their current toolkit and efforts to attract investment, promote export and create new markets, as well as the preferential trade regimes which Armenia can take adventage of. Deputy Minister of Economy Naira Margaryan touched upon the inclusion in the economy, which is a priority for Armenia, noting that SMEs play a big role in it.

Diaspora businessmen interested in Armenian IT sector

Diasporan-Armenian businessmen are interested in the Armenian IT sector. Canadian-Armenian Hrayr Achkaryan has come to Armenia for the second time, for the first time with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. This time to participate in WCIT. It was during a technology conference that he decided to invest in technology. Markus Baghdasaryan is also interested in Armenian technologies. He wants to export Armenian technological potential to Europe.

Government’s task is to keep up with advanced countries of world

“Our task is to create a country that will be competitive, will ensure the prosperity of its citizens as a country that keeps pace with the advanced countries of the world. I am sure that you are also aware of the changes that are taking place and are taking place in Armenia, aimed at improving the business environment in order to create better conditions for investment from both local and foreign entrepreneurs,” - Avinyan.

And quite recently the process of comprehensive public administration reforms has kicked off aimed at reducing the administrative burden”, he added.
