Sport is an integral part of our modern life and quite often many people actively combine it with travel, especially our NomadMania members. 

Therefore, in honour of the Olympic Games that begin in Paris this month, our theme for July is Sports and Travel. We are launching a short poll to examine the extent that sports play a role in your travel experiences.

Teaching Swimming to Liberian Kids

One of our prominent users, Todd Aiken, is doing something really special.

Together with his daughters, he set on a mission to build the first public pool in Liberia and to teach local kids how to swim which is an essential skill in a coastal country where surprisingly most people can't swim.

According to Todd's words, it is the most emotional and impactful adventure he has ever taken in his 43 years of travel. Read the full story here.

We have just developed a "Friendship Functionality" in the app. Now it works similarly to the web version which is part of our "engagement" strategy.

Go ahead and add your fellow nomads as friends. More functions in this direction coming soon. Download the app if you somehow missed it.

Åland Islands Trip Report

Between June 5 and 9 we hosted the Aland islands tour, a fantastic occasion for 20 people in our community to meet each other and enjoy a little visited but thoroughly adorable destination.

This trip also included visiting Märket Reef, the world’s smallest divided island, which is split between Finland and Sweden. See the full report here.

Series Suggestions and Updates

We are very happy to note the large NomadMania community participation in our effort to improve our Series listings.

Since we implemented the system of direct suggestions two months ago, we have processed more than 2,000 suggestions, either for some corrections or in the vast majority of cases for brand new Series items.

We attempt to review everything within two weeks of submission, though you may find it is much faster or, in some cases, a little slower.

Suggestions have come for a large number of countries; leading the agenda are Poland and Portugal so far, though Vietnam has also had a fair share. The Series with most suggestions for new items have been Religious Temples and World of Nature.

Therefore we would kindly ask you to send us some other listing in order to help keeping this balance. Please read the small brief here. Thanks :-)
