Alcohol Awareness Week 11-17 November

How the AET can support your school, club or organisation

Alcohol Awareness Week is less than a month away! This year, the theme is 'Alcohol and Me' and offers schools, clubs and community groups a great opportunity to focus on alcohol issues. We have some suggestions for you below!

Ideas for getting involved (schools)
  • Hold an assembly with a focus on alcohol awareness
  • Distribute our 'Alcohol and You' student guides
  • Have a discussion around alcohol during tutor time
  • Distribute our 'Talking to Kids about Alcohol' parent guides
  • Book a parent talk
  • Book a teacher/staff training session
How can we support you?

Schools can order the following resources free of charge by contacting Kate via kate@alcoholeducationtrust.org:

  • AET Teacher Workbook – this resource is fully supported online and covers units and guidelines, the law, alcohol and its effects social and physical and much more. Take a look via the teacher area of www.alcoholeducationtrust.org
  • 110x 'Alcohol and You' student guides
  • 110x 'Talking to Kids about Alcohol' parent guides

Log on to the great www.talkaboutalcohol.com learning zone for young people and see the games and activities that make PSHE engaging and effective.

For youth and sports clubs, community groups and for any professional working with young people

Lessons plans are not for you, but you will find a wealth of worksheets, film clips, games and activities that you can use in more informal settings via www.alcoholeducationtrust.org – there is also an excellent young people facing website packed with games, quizzes and activities available to you via www.talkaboutalcohol.com

Our 'Alcohol and You' guides, suitable for 13 -15 year olds,  are great too – and finally we also have guidance for parents  with ‘Talking to Kids about Alcohol'. Please email kate@alcoholeducationtrust.org to find out more.

We also have an activity box of resources available for just £45. The resource is packed with games, worksheets and laminated activity cards, plus the BAFTA winning 'Just a few Drinks' DVD of 4 short films. It is particularly suitable for one to one/small group settings and for children with additional learning needs.

If you work with a high proportion of children who are looked after, or are based in an area of high deprivation or work with children with additional learning needs, we may be able to provide you with an activity box free of charge thanks to grant funding. Please contact kate@alcoholeducationtrust.org
