Oh, Little town of Bethlehem…Bethlehem may be one of the most famous little towns in the world. It is known as the birthplace of Jesus. As Christmas nears let’s look at the significance of this historic city!
700 years before Jesus was born, the prophet Micah prophesied that Bethlehem would be the Messiah’s birthplace. Micah 5:2 sets the stage with…”But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”
And The Gospels of Matthew and Luke state very clearly that the location of Jesus' birth is Bethlehem.
Bethlehem is located in the hill country right outside of Jerusalem. A mild climate and plentiful rainfall, ensure that the town’s fields, orchards, and vineyards thrive into bountiful harvests.
In His divine sovereignty, God would later appoint this town as the birthplace of His Son who would declare, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” (John 6:35)
Instead of choosing the holy city of Jerusalem as Jesus birthplace, God selected a town so small that it wasn’t even listed on the registry of towns in Joshua 15 and Nehemiah 11. God chose a place that was small, quiet, out of the way, and did something there that changed the course of history and eternity.
Bethlehem is the home to over 27,000 residents today and those who live there are considered citizens of Palestine. Christians from all over the world travel to Bethlehem to see and experience the birthplace of Jesus Christ.
To God Be The Glory, for the tiny town of Bethlehem, the site of the extraordinary event that forever changed humanity’s future. And while Jesus birth happened in this unlikely place and seemingly insignificant town, scripture tells us, that the location was not by accident. It was all part of God’s holy and most divine, miraculous plan!

Every holiday season brings an opportunity to spend quality time at home with loved ones. While some parents worry that time away from school might hinder their child's learning progress, most teachers emphasize the importance of rest and relaxation during breaks. Children need time to recharge and reset before diving back into their studies.
However, this doesn't mean you can't incorporate fun and engaging activities that stimulate their minds and keep them learning throughout the holidays. Here are 10 simple yet effective ways to foster learning and growth during the festive season:
7. Unleashing Creativity: Nurturing Artistic Expression
The holidays provide ample inspiration for creative exploration. Encourage your child to express themselves through various art forms.
- Homemade crafts: Create personalized holiday cards, ornaments, and decorations using various materials.
- Musical creations: Learn festive tunes, compose original songs, or play instruments to enhance musical skills.
- Artistic expression: Encourage drawing, painting, or sculpting to foster creativity and self-expression.
8. Embracing the Great Outdoors: A Classroom of Nature's Wonders
Nature offers a boundless learning environment. Encourage outdoor activities to explore, observe, and connect with the natural world.
- Nature photography: Capture the beauty of winter landscapes, plants, and animals through photography.
- Nature collections: Gather natural objects like pinecones, leaves, or rocks to spark curiosity and scientific inquiry.
- Spontaneous adventures: Bundle up and explore the outdoors, discovering new sights, sounds, and smells.

FLU
Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.
Flu shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a flu vaccination.
RSV
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common, contagious virus that usually causes mild symptoms. In older adults and adults with certain underlying conditions, RSV can cause severe infections.
RSV shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a RSV vaccination.
COVID-19
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the disease and how the virus spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by staying at least 1 metre apart from others, wearing a properly fitted mask, and washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently. Get vaccinated when it’s your turn and follow local guidance.
The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. It is important to practice respiratory etiquette, for example by coughing into a flexed elbow, and to stay home and self-isolate until you recover if you feel unwell.
Both COVID vaccines and Booster COVID vaccines are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding COVID vaccinations.
