Two robbers armed with knives boarded a Singapore-flagged Tanker while it was underway in the Philip Channel, Singapore Straits. The crew discovered the intruders on the poop deck, prompting the robbers to flee when the alarm was raised. One crew member sustained injuries, but nothing was reported stolen. The vessel did not require assistance and continued its passage to Singapore. The injured crew member was later taken to a hospital in Singapore and is reported to be in stable condition.
This incident brings the total number of confirmed incidents in the region to at least 44 this year, with 31 of those exhibiting similar characteristics and occurring within the Singapore Strait area.
