Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The inaugural “Building Tribal Economies Toolkit” was released to the public during the Reservation Economic Summit (RES) on March 11, 2024. The report includes 11 strategic considerations that Tribal Nations should address if they are to build thriving, resilient Tribal economies. Each consideration features four learning components, including a conversation framework, Tribal Nation snapshot, questions to the reader, and policy tips.
The purpose of this toolkit is to bring the focus on the strategic, foundation considerations involved with building integrated and resilient Tribal economies capable of supporting their communities and their citizens today, tomorrow, and for generations to come. Centered on the task of seeding economic prosperity and community transformation, it poses probing questions that Tribal leaders and other key decision-makers must ask to craft economy-building approaches capable of achieving their long-term, nation-building goals. It also equips stakeholders with the knowledge, tools, best-practices approaches, and proven strategies to understand what building a Tribal economy requires and how to approach it.
USET’s Office of Economic Development Director, Rebecca Naragon, CEcD, contributed to the toolkit and USET member Tribal Nations were featured in Tribal Nation snapshots, including:
