SET-Nav Newsletter: Issue October 2017

Welcome to SET-Nav

SET-Nav - Navigating the Roadmap for Clean, Secure and Efficient Energy Innovation was initiated in April 2016 and is funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme.

SET-Nav supports strategic decision making in Europe's energy sector, enhancing innovation towards a clean, secure and efficient energy system.

SET-Nav Events

SET-Nav Topical Workshop

"Europe’s gas infrastructure needs towards 2050: which projects of common interest should be prioritised?"

28 September 2017, Brussels, Belgium

This workshop, which was organized by CEPS, presented results from the case study on Projects of Common Interest (PCI) and gas producers pricing strategy. Several PCIs were discussed and analysed by using different modelling approaches. Outputs included recommendations for optimal use of gas networks and measurements of country-specific price vulnerability against gas producers’ market power.

Keynote speaker, Adam Romanowski (DG Energy, European Commission) highlighted that “The PCI identification is a long and complex process”. Invited speakers  Celine Heidrecheid, from ENTSOG and Boyko Nitzov, from ACER provided their comments on model-based evaluation of PCI gas infrastructure and raised a fruitful discussion on the topic.

The material of the workshop (agenda, presentations, photos) could be found at the event's website.

SET-Nav Modelling workshop

“Aggregating load profiles from the power sector models towards use in large-scale energy-system and integrated assessment models”

7 September 2017, Vienna, Austria

During the workshop organized by TUWien, sufficient information was extracted from the bottom-up models and the load-profile and demand flexibility interface to allow the energy system and supply models to endogenously account for and optimize the demand shifting options. The workshop was not only relevant and important to the modelling community, but its results will be furthermore put to use in the project and could be directly applied in model expansion/integration and thereafter the model application to assess future policy pathways for the EU up to 2050.

The material of the workshop (agenda, presentations, photos) could be found at the event's website.
