Roots to Wings

Crest to Coast District UMW Annual Meeting

I hope to see you all there!

The meeting will be held at Olympia First United Methodist Church.  The address is 1224 Legion Way SE, Olympia, WA 98501.  Registration begins at 8:15 and the meeting begins at 9 am.

To register, see your president for the registration form.  If you have any questions about the meeting, please contact Susan Chamberlain at (360) 859-3740.

There will be two speakers, Amanda Hutchinson and Estella Wallace.  In addition to our speakers, there will be many items of business covered. Including, that this is the meeting where you get to pick up your awards, elect your new officers, and browse the books for the first time.

I will not be having many books there for purchase.  I will have as many as possible for you to look at from our library and local book stores.

In case any one missed the emails about the library lists and the new books (with cover art and descriptions), I am including the link to the file here.

This link is to a Google Drive Folder that contains 4 PDF files.  One is the PDF version of the post of the books, the other three are the library lists for books that qualify this year for Pierce County Library System (PRC), Fort Vancouver Regional Library System (FVRL) and the Timberland Regional Library System(TRL). I will be adding the Spokane Library list when it is completed.

I am not sharing a specific book this month because of sending out all of the new book information.

Mission U Update

Here is the thank you from Central Washington Justice for our Neighbors to which 1/2 of the offering of Mission u was sent.  I would appreciate this being shared .

Thank you,

Deb Avery

*****************************************

“Thank you for your Mission U donation to Central Washington Justice for Our Neighbors. I appreciate your generous support for our work more than I can easily express in words.

These are very challenging and dangerous times for our immigrant friends and neighbors. Only with your help can we continue to advocate for them in the court of law and on the street.

Only with your help can we inform people of their legal rights and educate members of the wider community regarding their role in asserting and defending those rights.

With your support CWJFON is doing this work every day right here in Central Washington.

You are saving families: CWJFON works to keep families together, away from deportation and incarceration.

You are helping people when they need it most.

I thank you, friend.

CWJFON Board President

Because of the generosity of Mission  u participants we were able to send $1,250.00.

Thank you,

Let Your Light Shine

Some notes from the program book

  • Each program will take 45 minutes to an hour, not the 90 minutes to two hours as some of the past books have done.
  • "Read through the programs well in advance and be sure to prepare the necessary resources and materials to make each gathering a valuable experience for all."
  • The full cycle of the 12 monthly programs will help your group to answer the question "How do you or can you reflect God's light as a unit?"
  • Each program includes a bible verse and study.
