Greetings everyone!
It's your chronically sleep-deprived corset enthusiast!
I wanted to share a story that happened this past week. My sister-in-law (not the same sister that just got out of the ICU, don't worry) stooped over at work Friday before last, and suddenly felt an exquisite pain in her back. She tried to power through her workday but on the drive home, her feet went numb and she had to pull over. Over the weekend, the pain and numbness progressed until she couldn't sit or stand, so her husband called an ambulance.
Scans showed that it was a herniated disc, and both the doctor at the hospital and her family doctor recommended a back brace or corset to help immobilize the injury, support her core so she is able be upright without pain, and to help train and improve her posture over time.
She had apparently been hinting heavily to her husband for years about wanting to try one of my corsets (I was none the wiser) - but now the conversation opened up and we finally had a reason for me to size her for one. While I am not at all glad that she's had to go through such a painful ordeal, it's a big deal that healthcare professionals are recognizing the role that corsets can have in acute injury treatment, and I am happy to help in any capacity I'm able.
She won't have to go through years of trial and error to find a comfortable fit and right level of support, since education around therapeutic corsetry is kind of my jam. I suppose this is as much of a silver lining as one could hope for in these circumstances.
What's new:
My VA and I have a new crossword puzzle for you this week! And the new colorway will have you feeling lucky as it's covered in what appears to be four-leaf clovers 🍀.
