The DanceStep program has been a huge success at Dance Habit since it was implemented in 2018. We are so fortunate to have the progressive Dance Student Teacher Education program, founded by Jane Grech.
The Student Teacher Leadership Program provides learning opportunities for students from ten years of age. Through the program, students are empowered to be role models, grow as leaders and care for others in the studio and wider community. ‘Soft skills’ are developed through DanceStep, which are also referred to as employability skills such as problem solving, communication, empathy and teamwork.
Not only do our DanceStep students help out and do such a wonderful job in our Junior Classes, but they also assist at many of our community events, including our School Holiday Programs and Preschool, Mid-Year and End-Of-Year Concerts.
DanceStep is such a wonderful program that prepares students for many aspects of life and helps create kind, compassionate, reliable, trustworthy, employable, and exceptional individuals. It builds on our studio values of kindness, inclusion, empowerment and growth and our culture, of building and fostering strong relationships with other students, patience, and supporting and caring for others.
Over the years we have watched our students, gain increased levels of confidence and self-esteem, learn to take initiative, become more involved in the studio, be role models, represent the studio through embracing and living our core values and enhance their communication skills through the program.
