For the month of February the PCAC will continue the theme of super simple ways to save water at home. One way to do that is by installing high-efficiency toilets.
Did you know that toilets are the main source of water use in homes? By installing high efficiency toilets, residents can save 6-35 gallons per day. Consider installing WaterSense toilets. WaterSense toilets are independently certified for efficiency as well as performance.
According to the EPA, “…the average family can reduce water used for toilets by 20 to 60 percent—that's nearly 13,000 gallons of water savings for your home every year! They could also save more than $140 per year in water costs, and $2,900 over the lifetime of the toilets. Nationally, if all old, inefficient toilets in the United States were replaced with WaterSense labeled models, we could save 360 billion gallons of water per year, or the amount of water that flows over Niagara Falls in about 9 days.”
That’s a tip that doesn’t stink, because that’s a lot of water saved for such an easy fix. If you are convinced it’s time to upgrade your toilets to more efficient ones, check out this list of The 7 Best Water-Saving Toilets of 2022.
