Dear Marina Gutgarts,
We are approaching a year of life under pandemic. There is probably no area that has not been affected by the health crisis directly or by the effects it had on the economy, governance, education, and civil society. To better understand the pandemic’s consequences and transformative potential, we are delighted to announce the release of the first EaP CSF COVID-19 Policy Paper on the Freedom of Speech and Media Plurality in the Context of the COVID-19 Pandemic. More papers to be released in the upcoming weeks.
In light of the latest developments in Georgia, the Steering Committee released a joint statement with Georgian National Platform, condemning the arrest of Nika Melia - Georgian opposition leader. We continues to monitor closely the democratic developments of the EaP countries also with help of the new Eastern Partnership Index edition - EaP Linkage 2018-19. The data shows that the connections between EaP countries and the EU are increasing but the divide between the three AA signatories and the rest remains sustained.
Following the success of its Re-granting to Working Groups scheme over the past six years, the EaP CSF Secretariat has launched a Call for Proposals under its new, re-worked Re-granting to Members programme - Lot 3. This call aims to support the work of EaP CSF member organisations to develop and deliver on the strategic policy and capacity building priorities of the Forum within the regional dimension. We invite EaP CSF members to apply by 14 March 2021.
We wish you a pleasant read,
Yours,
EaP CSF Secretariat
