The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported a suspicious approach on a Tanker approximately 55NM Southeast of Aden, Yemen. A small black and yellow craft, four meters in length, approached the merchant vessel at high speed on its Starboard quarter. The Master reported that up to ten personnel were seen onboard displaying a ladder. No weapons were sighted. The Armed Security Team (AST) challenged the suspicious craft, causing it to leave the area.

There have been multiple additional reports of sightings of vessels matching the description of the small craft reported above in the vicinity of Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

On the same day, at approximately 12:45 UTC, a suspicious vessel was sighted in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The vessel was observed at coordinates 12°26'60.00"N, 43°43'0.00"E. The vessel's intentions remain unclear, and the situation is being monitored closely.

All vessels in the area are advised to proceed with caution and to report any suspicious activities to the UKMTO.
