Dearest Brothers and Sisters,
Jai Sai Ram!
I pray that with Bhagawan’s grace, you are all keeping well.
This edition of Love & Light brings you an update from Maha Shivaratri celebrations from across the country, updates from some of the recent Regional Office Bearers and Active Workers Conferences and Regional sadhana meetings for the Centenary pilgrimage, and much more.
As we celebrated the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri, it filled our hearts with immense joy to witness the devotion and love that was being expressed across all regions. Devotees came together in prayers, sadhana, and contemplation, honouring Lord Shiva and seeking the blessings of our beloved Bhagawan, Sri Sathya Sai Baba, on this sacred night.
In the spirit of service and unity, we are also delighted to share that Regional Office Bearers and Active Workers Conferences were recently held with great success. It was a time of deep reflection, strengthening bonds, and reaffirming our commitment to selfless service, as we continue to walk the path of love and light. Following these, sadhana meetings were also held as part of the preparations for this year's Zonal pilgrimage, inspiring all of us to align ourselves more closely with Bhagawan's teachings and deepen our spiritual practices as we approach this historic Centenary milestone.
In addition to our spiritual efforts, we are also preparing for the Nepal medical camp. This noble initiative will see 48 healthcare professionals and 16 volunteers travelling to Nepal to provide medical assistance and support to those in need. As always, these efforts reflect Bhagawan’s teachings of compassion, service, and love for humanity.
Let us continue to support and uplift one another in our sadhana and seva, always remembering the words and teachings of our beloved Baba. With His divine guidance, may we all walk the path of selfless service and love.
Lovingly, in Sai service
Pratap Thakkar

Summary of recent Regional discussions |
|
Chai With Sai |
|
|
|
The recent Chai with Sai social meet-up in Coulsdon, Region 1, brought together 13 young individuals for an inspiring and insightful discussion on community service and Young Adult engagement. The event provided a welcoming space for attendees to connect, while sharing their thoughts on the challenges of maintaining local initiatives.
A key topic of discussion was the power of selfless acts, whether small or big, and how one simple initiative can grow into a large community project. The group reflected on how small gestures, such as helping a neighbour, organising a local clean-up, or supporting a peer, can inspire others and create a ripple effect of positive change. They also discussed how service brings a deeper sense of understanding and warmheartedness, reinforcing the collective belief that they are making a difference both morally and physically. The realisation that service not only benefits the community but also fosters personal growth and empathy resonated strongly among participants.
Chai with Sai successfully ignited these meaningful conversations, marking an important step in reconnecting young people with service and inspiring a future generation of engaged and compassionate individuals.

On Sunday 23rd February, the Young Adults in Region 7 had their first Chai with Sai catch-up this year, on this occasion via Zoom. The theme of the event was “sharing our experiences with Swami.” The Young Adults (YAs) spent the afternoon discussing how they came to know of Swami and how this has impacted their spiritual journey ever since. It was an intimate discussion and the common theme across the conversations was that Swami is part of our lives, whether we choose to accept this or not. The event was also useful in helping foster bonds between the YAs, especially since there were some new faces. It was a lovely event and there are further YA events such as this planned for the year ahead.

Seva with love: a heartfelt experience |
|
|
|
With a genuine keenness or readiness to serve others, you can attain happiness in any group or community [...] The very eagerness to serve others will endow you with the power and skill necessary for the required service.
Sri Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. 14, Ch. 7
On 1st March, I had the profound privilege of participating in a service initiative led by Walthamstow Sai Centre, with the gracious support of Edmonton Sai Centre. This special service was dedicated to celebrating Valentine’s Day with the elderly.
This opportunity was more than just an act of service: it was a chance to connect with and honour our elders in a deeply personal way, an experience that many of us might not have had outside of this space. It held a particularly special place in my heart, as I recently lost my beloved grandfather in late 2024. Due to the physical distance, I was unable to spend time with him in his later years. However, my involvement in this initiative led me to feel his presence once more. Being in the company of the elderly, sharing in their joy, felt like a cherished moment with him all over again.
Throughout the day, we created beautiful memories over a warm, heartfelt lunch, engaged in lively trivia, shared laughter, and even showcased some energetic dance moves. Our elders are the foundation of our society, and as a small token of appreciation, the Young Adults attending this event baked sweet treats for them to enjoy. (Fortunately, the sugar rush added to the enthusiasm on the dance floor!) To conclude this wonderful day, we presented each elder with a red rose: a simple yet meaningful reminder of a community built on love and togetherness.

With our dear Swami's grace, this February half term, the Region 2 Bal Vikas (SSE) team took part in the Digital Detox Challenge, as a Ceiling on Desires activity. We received positive feedback from our Bal Vikas team of children, parents and gurus, a selection of which follows:
“A screen-free day with family - I felt calm and refreshed. My mum also joined me in the digital detox challenge and we both appreciated the break from the screens and the moments that truly matter.” – Radhika Sharma, age 12, Harrow West Sai Centre.
“I had to have a positive mind, which can sometimes be difficult. I have learnt that you must have discipline. Also, I practised ceiling on desires and will buy an Easter Egg for the homeless with the money I saved from not using electricity.” – Arjun Tank, age 9, Harrow East Sai Centre.
“I believe a day without my phone was beneficial for me. It felt like I had a lot of time to do chores around the house. I thought I would be bored, but I was busy the whole day doing things like homework and chores. When I completed my tasks, I felt I had accomplished such a lot.” - Shivani Patel, age 11, Slough Sai Centre
“Most needed activity, it’s an important step in self-discipline; it may seem simple, but difficult to implement and yet very effective.” - Bal Vikas parent.
“I personally tried it and it felt nice not being near devices and responding to messages immediately. So, it helped to pace my day the way I liked it to be, rather than reacting to messages when they needed attention. It was a good experience, one that should be followed by all ages and groups.” - Viji Ganesh, Bal Vikas Guru, Slough Sai Centre
