Our Beloved Bhante Vimalaramsi has passed away

June 27, 2023 12:30AM time of his passing

The sky  over Dhamma Sukha was full of circles and rainbows the day he died.  Meditators on retreat woke up at that time and wondered if something had happened.

Here at Dhamma Sukha we are contemplating his incredible life and our memories of him.  We are remembering his impact on us and thinking of ways to pay tribute to him.

We were lucky to have Venerable Kusala (senior student since 2013) and Venerable Samitha from Cambridge here to perform cermonies. Delson Armstrong was here teaching a retreat.

  • A zoom memorial will be announced soon.
  • There will be an onsite celebration when the Stupa is completed sometime in September.

Dear Friend, Student, and supporter of Bhante Vimalaramsi,

If you have not seen Delson’s video memorial and tribute to Bhante take a look below.

The day Bhante died, Bhante Kusala, Bhante Samitha and Venerable Obhasa chanted for him and we think he died in a very uplifted state. When we returned to Dhamma Sukha, the retreaters were looking up at the sky and we could see rainbows and circles. Many of us knew this was our playful Bhante showing us how happy he is, and showing us how to have fun!

This is what he would always say to us when we attended his retreats:

“I want you to smile, I want you to laugh, and I want you to have fun!” And he meant it!

So please be happy, and use his incredible example to reach the highest possible level of liberation you can in this life!

He did tell us how to do this with the 6R’s!

May you enjoy the good merits of your continued practice and  support of our beloved Bhante Vimalaramsi.

We will be building a Stupa for his relics and it will also will house relics of his beloved teacher Ven U Silananda.

If you wish to donate for the project please feel free. We will have a celebration for the opening of the Stupa when its done.

Above is an example of a Stupa. Ours will be smaller and in gold color. We are consulting with Bhante Kusala and others on to how to do this. We expect it to be done by end of the summer.
