Plan a date night this April.. many events for adults 18+

Welcome to our April newsletter, where we feature events for adults 18 or 21+ that you might consider for a date night, girls' night or any other reason to head out sans children.

Champaign-Urbana has a TON of adult-friendly, outside-the-box ideas that are happening THIS month, so that you can book a babysitter, make reservations and plan a grownup night out weeks in advance. Some ideas are free (yeah!); others might be more of a splurge, and there is something for everyone.

Chambanamoms thanks Krannert Center for the Performing Arts for presenting our date night newsletter.

Date night ideas coming up this month in Champaign-Urbana

Swing Dance at Hamilton Walker's: The Illini Swing Society DJs pop in at Hamilton Walker's in Champaign on April 6 for a free swing dance with the Lindy Hoppers. No experience or registration needed!

Boneyard Arts Festival: This April 4-6 staple of C-U offers a multitude of experiences. While every year we love the family friendly nature of the Festival -- there are SO MANY events to choose from -- some of them are decidedly more "adult." Pick your favorite here.

Festival Milonga: The Festival Milonga on April 5 brings together guest artists, local tango band Bandoneon Massacre, and Midwest guest musicians for a magical night celebrating the beauty and drama of tango music and dance. The milonga features music from DJ Mariano Bejarano and a 20-plus piece festival orquesta as well as a special live-music dance performance from Daniela Roig and Hernan Prieto. Part of the CU Tango Music Festival, $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

Adults-only Night at Skateland: We're all about throwback fun this month, but who says roller skating is only for kids? Also, this means arcade games, laser tag and more ... which could be just as fun. April 6.

Yappy Hour at Riggs Beer Company: Want to hang out with your furry friend, drink some brews and enjoy spring? All well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome to attend (and their humans, too) on April 12.

Coaches vs. Cancer Fundraiser: It's one of the biggest events of the year in our community -- literally -- and it's also a great cause. Head to Gordyville on April 16. You can buy single tickets to the dinner, which features Illini coach Brad Underwood as the main speaker. Surprises are sure to be in store. Dress code: jeans and Illini wear (cowboy boots optional).

The Wedding Singer: Yes, we are nostalgic for the 1998 Adam Sandler movie of the same name (could it really have been that long?!). This musical is sure to be a fun time at Parkland College Theater, which has killed it this season! Performances run April 17-May 4.

Nite Lite Egg Pursuit: Break out your basket, grab your flashlight and prepare your inner child as you hunt for eggs filled with prizes. Be on the lookout for the bronze, silver and gold eggs for a chance to win some great prize packages. For 18+ on April 18. On-site registration available at Dodds Park in Champaign.

EbertFest: Festival passes are the best way to secure your way into this amazing event. Individual tickets might be available in the weeks before the April 23-26 festival. Movies we can't wait to see: Color Book (Following his wife's recent passing, single father Lucky finds himself navigating the challenges of raising his son Mason, who has Down syndrome. Seeking solace, Lucky and Mason embark on a journey across Metro Atlanta to attend their first baseball game together.) Also, the 40th anniversary of Desperately Seeking Susan on the big screen!

Jessie Montgomery and Third Coast Percussion at Krannert Center: Grammy Award-winners Jessie Montgomery and TCP collaborate in a dynamic program April 26 that equally showcases Montgomery's excellence as a composer and violinist.

Afternoon Tea at Allerton Mansion: Dress up in your garden party finest and visit Monticello's Allerton Park on April 27 for a Springtime Afternoon Tea.
