Olympia, WA – Vintage, working, and retired tugboats return to the southernmost tip of Puget Sound for three days of free family-friendly fun at Olympia Harbor Days, Friday, Sept. 1 to Sunday, Sept. 3, at Olympia’s downtown waterfront at Percival Landing and Port Plaza.
Presented by the South Sound Maritime Heritage Association, this free festival features tugboat races, vessel tours, children's activities, live band performances, vendors, food, demos, displays, and more.
The festival will open with a Squaxin Island Tribe blessing on Friday at 5 p.m., followed by a show on the Main Stage at Percival Landing.
To kick off the 50th celebration of Olympia Habor Days, an exciting drone show will take place on Friday evening at 9:30 p.m. Olympia Harbor Days recommends viewing the show from Percival Landing Boardwalk near the park, the Port Plaza, or Westbay Park.
The last remaining Vintage Tugboat Races in the world will be held on Sunday at 12 p.m. in Budd Inlet. Please note that spectators need to be on the water on a boat or on the shoreline to see the races.
All weekend, the Port Plaza stage will host entertainment. A complete list of entertainment can be found at www.HarborDays.com.
Coast Salish Tribes will present tribal drum-making and cultural sharings at the Port Plaza. Hands On Children’s Museum’s make-race-take tugboat activity will also occur at the Port Plaza as part of “Ships of the Harbor” sponsored by Capital Heating, Cooling & Plumbing.
The famous Tall Ship, Lady Washington will return to Olympia and will be sharing the Port Plaza dock with the historic Mosquito Fleet Steam Ship, Virginia V.
