We talk a lot in our world about growth, producing fruit, and being at our peak. This is only a small part of a growth cycle. This typical way we describe growth cannot be sustained.
----> It is part of a bigger cycle.
We completely devalue the part of the cycle that includes decomposition, recycling of nutrients, and the enrichment of the soil.
In my opinion, this enrichment of the soil is actually the most important part of our growth cycle.
Yes, I am talking about our lives, not just our gardens. ;D
Sometimes we have to burn everything down to decompose our lives and recycle our energy back into the soil.
Other times it is about making tweaks or letting small parts go that have already been moving towards decay.
But we often feel guilty for burning things down, letting go, or moving on!
The thing is, this is part of a natural cycle. Our world may not value it, but we can.
Do you let yourself or the things around you fall apart? Or are you investing all your energy into keeping things together? Maybe you are the human super glue.
What if you just stopped and let things inside and around you follow their natural cycle?
It is freeing to allow and surrender to change.
Change is inevitable anyway, but we work so hard to stop it. And all that energy inside of us resisting change is not available to make that inevitable change...wonderful.
Right now, I am in a period of decomposition!
In a way, it feels like a small death. A death of identity, ego, comfort, familiarity, and more. The human part of me wants so badly to fix it, resist it or slow it down, but I have finally surrendered to the fact that dissolving myself is part of the cycle.
I can’t continue to hold on to what no longer serves me. Can you?
I am finding a sense of peace within this time knowing that all this decomposition is going to be enriching my soil. What I grow next will be stronger and more beautiful.
I have been running into a lot of women experiencing a similar feeling. They feel that something is shifting and something needs to change. They can’t define it or put their finger on it, but there is a pull to build anew.
If that is you...listen to it. You can start will looking at the other side of the growth cycle!
What do you need to let go of? What needs to decompose and decay? How you can recycle energy and nutrients back into your body, mind, and spirit?
Maybe this holiday season we can all focus on enriching our soil so that we can plant new seeds next year.
Whatever place you are in right now, give yourself permission to honor it. I honor you!
PS. I am shifting my services right now, but I am offering some really amazing 1:1 self-development programs. If you are ready to reclaim your innate gifts, genius, and wisdom, we should talk.
PPS. Have you been listening to the Women in the Business Arena podcast lately? This season we have been unpacking the idea that Growth is a Removal Process. This week we talked about the importance of welcoming all of our emotions. I feel this episode lines up really well with today’s email.
