Thank you so much for signing up to receive my newsletters. I really appreciate your interest in SIDETRACKED and UPSTAGED, and me!
I’ve been spending much of the spring and these early days of summer in one of my favorite places on earth—Block Island, Rhode Island— walking for miles, bird-watching, and working on a new book. This one’s taking a while, but I hope in the end it’ll be worth it.
It’s hard to leave the pink and white beach roses, the honeysuckle and yellow warblers, but there are some great things waiting for me at home.
I’m excited that I’ll be taking part in a wonderful summer program at Symphony Space in New York City. It’s called the Thalia Book Club Camp. This will be my second time participating as a guest author, and I can’t wait. I’ll be talking with campers about my book, UPSTAGED, how my own experience in a production of The Music Man inspired me to write the story, and we’ll be working on creating something together—maybe a musical of our own!
I love the idea of a kids’ book club camp, a place where kids can spend a week with other enthusiastic readers, talk about books and meet authors. There are two weeks of in-person camp (I’ll be part of the first, for 9-11 year olds) and a third week that will be virtual, so anyone, anywhere can attend. If you’d like to know more, here’s a link to the program.
Thanks again for signing up for my newsletters. I’ll leave you with a video of a sweet little bird here on Block Island, the Eastern Towhee, and its call to “Drink Your Teaaaaaa!”
