"I’ll just have to swim extra laps in the morning to make up for the sugar binge,” Nash said.
“Pretty sure you can handle a few desserts,” I said. “I mean, don’t people with a lot of muscle tone burn more calories anyway?”
“Have you been checking out my muscles then, Kiara?” Nash asked, an amused look in his eyes.
“Umm…no?” My stomach dropped as soon as I realized what I’d just said. “W-why would I do something like that?”
Why was I so good at saying embarrassing things like that to Nash? Why did the self-preserving part of my brain just disappear whenever I was within ten feet of him?
“I have no idea.” He chuckled. Then hooking his thumb over his shoulder, he said, “Anyway, I’m gonna go get that swim in. If you feel like checking out my amazing calves as I walk away, I won’t tell anyone.”
“Since it’s totally your calves that are the most distracting thing about you right now,” I said, figuring I may as well banter back since I’d already made my ogling obvious.
His grin stretched wider and even though I felt like a dork, I couldn’t help but return his smile.
“I’ll see you at the fair tonight,” he said. “Good luck with your sales today.”
