I’m finding the news these days so stressful. I try hard not to read too much of it, while also contacting my congresspeople on the issues I care deeply about. It’s a balancing act—to speak up, while appreciating that life goes on—writing, cooking, reading, yoga, working with the Friends of the Key West Library, seeing family and friends. I took a quick trip to Empire, Michigan last weekend to attend the memorial service for my dear cousin Tom. It was heartbreaking to lose him, but still wonderful to reconnect with widespread family. Somehow, we manage to hold both feelings at once. I am reminded how important it is to appreciate small moments with the people we love, both real and imaginary.
