I really didn't like having to skip last week's newsletter, but something unexpected came up that made it too difficult to do.

For the last 10 weeks I’ve been part of On Deck's No-Code programme (I recommend it by the way). Last week we showcased our projects, but the surprise was that mine got selected for the Demo Day too, which needed extra time for preparations and presenting.

Anyway, back to normal this week and I’ve got some new tips for you.

This week’s design lesson

One of the most basic ways to help a visual design is to make your typography levels distinctly different. However, without design training it can be hard to know how to get this right.

• A really simple way of looking at scales is to double the font size as you go up from your base (paragraph text).
• You could also use a tool such as type-scale.com if you want to get more precise.
