Information and Tips.
Let's stay calm and healthy together

With the growing concerns for the Coronavirus as known as COVID-19, I wanted to reach out offer information and details about the studio.

Its important in times like these to stay healthy and connected as it can be trying times with feelings of isolation and despair so I would like to remain connected to our Sangha virtually.

Sangha is a Sanskrit word used in many Indian languages, including Pali, meaning "association", "assembly", "company" or "community".

I wanted to give it a few days as I felt I knew the direction this was going in.

Today Governor Cuomo has restricted classes in studios and gyms for atleast 2 weeks. I will abide by this as I want to assist in making sure everyone is safe and healthy.

I will not be teaching at the YMCA for at least 2 weeks.

In-person yoga classes at BE YOGA are cancelled until further notice.

However, I will be teaching my regular BE YOGA studio classes live in a private facebook group and private sessions online one to one in ZOOM video conferencing.

For Regular classes:

Please make sure to sign up for classes 1 hour prior to class this will ensure I will be able to add you to the group.

ONLINE CLASSES

I am excited to work with you virtually and look forward to helping you to continue forward on your yoga path :)

Let’s go over what we you can do to make sure you have a seamless experience.

First take a deep breath. Sometimes seeing yourself on a screen is unnerving and you can start to get critical of yourself. This will be a good exercise in accepting yourself.

  • Computer/camera /Phone set up.
    • Make sure your electronic device is charged before our session.
    • Turn on “do not disturb” or turn off any alerts on your computer that will make noise or distract you.
    • Please leave your phone and wearable connected device (apple watch etc) in another room or at least across the room you are in and muted. Do not disturb works best here too.
    • Set up the computer in the space you would like to do your call in and check to make sure you have the space needed to capture your mat and body seated and standing.
    • if you have Bluetooth headphones I offer for you to try them if you have bluetooth connectivity.
  • Zoom
    • We will be using Zoom for the session unless we have discussed an alternative method. Please download and install the program. Follow the prompts and go through all the set up steps before we meet.
    • Take at least a couple of minutes to navigate around the program so you have an idea of how it works.
  • Mat Set Up
    • Set up your mat so that the short end is facing towards the camera.
    • Grab a couple of pillows, blankets or towels, a belt or yoga strap and a yoga block or big book/vcr tapes if you have any of these.
  • Session Structure
    • We will start and end promptly.
    • During our session we will start with a check in with how you are feeling.
    • We will then move on to your practice.
    • After the practice we will process and talk about next steps.
    • We will begin each session with 3 Oms and the Purification Mantra.
  • Support
    • I will send you supportive documents if needed via email unless another option needs to be considered other wise they will be listed under the Class Essentials after each class on the website.
    • I am always available via email and text.

If you have any questions or issues while getting things set up please let me know and I will assist you the best I can virtually or with directions.

CLEANING YOUR MAT

Here are the items you will need:

  • Small spray bottle (2-4 ounces or so)
  • Distilled or spring water (3/4 of spray bottle)
  • 2 drops of tea tree essential oil
  • 1 drop of lavender essential oil
  • Optional: Witch hazel or white vinegar (fill 1/4 of spray bottle)

This DIY yoga mat cleaner spray is made with two simple essential oils: tea tree and lavender.

Tea tree essential oil is antibacterial and antifungal.

Lavender essential oil is an antibacterial oil with a relaxing and calming scent that relieves tension and is great for unwinding post-yoga.

You can add more lavender, or try other essential oil scents to your liking, until you find a formula that is perfect for your needs. For instance, if you aren’t a fan of tea tree oil, you can substitute it with another antibacterial oil such as lemongrass, eucalyptus, or peppermint.

ALTERNATE SOLUTION

RECIPE FOR NATURAL CLEANING SPRAY FOR YOGA MATS

  • ½ cup white vinegar
  • ½ cup of water
  • 3 drops of each essential oil you choose

As I know there is so much information out there I would still like to offer theses details from a valid source.
