When Houston Had The Blues focuses on the rich, but sadly unheralded, spawning ground of great Black music. What other city can claim giants such as Lightnin' Hopkins, Big Mama Thornton, Clifton Chenier, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Albert King, Freddie King, and Albert Collins, plus Black-owned abels like Duke and Peacock? Featuring a Who's-Who of extraordinary musicians – some justly celebrated, plus others who should be.

The Tallahassee Film Festival is in its 16th year and will take place on August 31 and September 1 in downtown Tallahassee.  The festival prides itself on exceptional and unexpected programming and created the festival as a safe space for artists and filmmakers to share their work.  

Rats! was born out of the scrappy, DIY scene that's blossomed out of Austin, Texas recently and is being called "a maniacal stoner epic of bad taste" and "one of the most bizarre and yet satisfying watches of this year".  

Synopsis:  Summer just got a lot shorter for Raphael Tinski. It's 2007 and the peak of emo-culture is in full swing. Raphael just got arrested by a psychotic cop. Raphael just fell in love with a girl at community service. Raphael might get blown up by nukes. He’s a good kid, so you can't blame Raphael for the events that unfold after his arrest. None of it is Raphael's fault, but it is his problem.

It's the 10th Anniversary of the film Boyhood, written and directed by Richard Linklater, starring Patricia Arquette, Ellar Coltrane, Lorelei Linklater and Ethan Hawke.  The film won an Oscar, along with its staggering 175 other festival wins.  It's the most recent film to have a score of 100 out of 100 on Metacritic and is the best reviewed film released in the 21st century so far.   

It had a meagre budget of only $4 million and was filmed over 10 years, starting in 2002 and finishing in 2013.  The cast and crew would gather once or twice a year to film for three or four days over those years.  

Synopsis: The joys and pitfalls of growing up are seen through the eyes of a child named Mason, his parents and his sister. Vignettes, filmed with the same cast over the course of 12 years, capture family meals, road trips, birthday parties, graduations and other important milestones. Songs from Coldplay, Arcade Fire and other artists capture the time period. Directed by Richard Linklater.
